Cloven Hooves is definitely the strangest book that I ever wrote.
Evelyn finds herself at a difficult time in her life. What was supposed to be a visit to her husband's family to help out in a difficult time is turning into a permanent residence. Despite her efforts, she remains an outsider to the close knit family, even as she sees her small son being absorbed into it. Is it madness or nostalgia for a time and place when she felt more connected as she begins to see her imaginary childhood friend appear in her life once more.
